Radisson Hotel Group plans to open its first Radisson Collection property in Madrid, Spain. The luxury hotel is expected to open in 2027 and will be located in the historic Generali building on Alcala Street, a major avenue in the Canalejas area.

The classic building, which has heritage protection, will undergo substantial redevelopment. The transformed space will boast a mix of premium retail outlets on the ground floor and 154 guest rooms and suites across ten floors. The hotel will also feature a rooftop offering panoramic views of the city.

The hotel’s location puts it close to many of Madrid’s cultural and historical landmarks, including Puerta del Sol, the Cibeles Fountain, the National Museum El Prado, Plaza Mayor and El Retiro Park.

Federico J. González, Executive Vice Chairman of Radisson Hotel Group, anticipates that the Radisson Collection’s debut in Madrid will further accelerate the group’s development in Spain. He also mentioned that the hotel is part of several upcoming projects and praised the ongoing partnership with Generali, with whom Radisson has previously collaborated in Rome and Venice.

The hotel will offer guests a range of high-end amenities. These include a signature restaurant and bar on the first level, a rooftop bar and restaurant on the 13th floor, a state-of-the-art fitness and wellness center, and a spa. The ground floor will host various stores for an exclusive shopping experience.

The project is being developed in collaboration with the Lamela architecture studio. The design will honor the building’s historical architecture while integrating Radisson Collection’s signature modern luxury.

Benedetto Giustiniani, Head of Southern Europe Region at Generali Real Estate, spoke of his company’s excitement in investing in the European hospitality sector. He believes that transforming the Alcalá 21 building into a Radisson Collection hotel will bolster Generali’s hotel property portfolio. He also expressed satisfaction in continuing their cooperation with Radisson Hotel Group and noted the potential of Madrid as an investment destination.
