- Google anticipates a rise in consumers seeking luxury travel experiences like spas, Jacuzzis, and five-star accommodations by 2025.
- Despite potential challenges like economic uncertainty and extreme weather concerns, the travel industry is expected to see a significant increase in spending and tourism across Europe.
As reported by Travel Weekly, Google’s Senior Industry Manager, Ailish English, predicts a boom in luxury travel by 2025, with consumers increasingly seeking top-tier experiences such as spas, Michelin-starred restaurants, and five-star accommodations. Based on Google’s search data, the forecast was presented at Jet2holiday’s annual conference in Cyprus.
While consumers continue to look for value in their holidays, they aren’t merely hunting for the cheapest deals. Instead, they’re seeking the best experiences within their budget, aiming for a luxurious holiday feeling.
English predicted a substantial increase in tourism across Europe, with holiday spending forecasted to rise by 37% between now and 2027. In-resort spending globally is also expected to increase by about 22% in the same period.
Despite the optimistic forecast, English warned of potential disruptions due to economic uncertainty, political instabilities, extreme weather concerns, and labor strikes.
Additionally, English noted the growing popularity of Black Friday in the UK, creating a mini peak in the holiday booking season. She encouraged travel agents to use social media and engaging content to connect with their clients year-round, fostering relationships potentially leading to future bookings even outside peak periods.
