FROM LONDON TO DUBAI: THE BANC...

The Banc, the renowned London-born restaurant, has opened its doors at the Renaissance Business Bay Hotel in Dubai. Since its inception in 2011, the North London venue has become an institution beloved by locals and frequented by a who’s who of celebrity guests. With its elevated menu and stylish design, The Banc Dubai steps into the role of the more polished older sibling. Just one month into its Dubai debut, the venue has already hosted sporting icon Anthony Joshua and American rapper and singer Quavo.

The Banc Dubai’s interior pays homage to its London origins, drawing inspiration from the original venue housed in a former Barclays Bank building. While the new location doesn’t reside in a bank, its design echoes the heritage of the original, highlighted by a striking circular vault door behind the bar and Fornasetti artwork featuring playful masked female robbers. Bespoke wallpaper, framed art, and recurring circular motifs harmonise to create a unified visual experience, blending history with contemporary artistry. Warm ambient lighting and abundant foliage enrich the inviting atmosphere. An outdoor terrace and shisha lounge offer a relaxed setting for al fresco dining, complemented by energising DJ sets at night.

The Banc Dubai presents an innovative Mediterrasian cuisine, blending Mediterranean and Asian flavours to stand out in the city’s vibrant dining scene. The menu features fresh seafood, premium meat cuts, and artfully crafted small plates, each bursting with flavour and designed to be as visually stunning as they are delicious.

Start with Bluefin Tuna Tataki (Dhs135), served with coriander emulsion and crispy leek. The Kebab (Dhs78), a lamb kebab with red onion salad and smoked pepper aioli, offers a hearty option. For mains, the Slow Cooked Wagyu Short Rib (Dhs224) comes with cauliflower puree and crispy onion for a melt-in-your-mouth experience. The Alaskan Crab Leg (Dhs198) is paired with herb-butter sauce, while the 1.2kg Wagyu Tomahawk (Dhs1,350) is served with chimichurri, asparagus, French beans, and crispy French fries. For dessert, indulge in the Truffle (Dhs75), with white truffle ice cream and almond crumble, or the refreshing Pavlova (Dhs45), featuring yuzu-lemon curd, matcha mascarpone, and candied lemon.

The beverage menu offers a wide range of signature cocktails, mocktails, champagne, wine, and sake. Try the Postman Negroni (Dhs78) with Tanqueray gin, Campari, vermouth, and balsamic vinegar, or the unique Ikigai by The Barrel (Dhs85) featuring Monkey Shoulder whiskey and banana cordial. For a twist on a classic, enjoy Sakemai (Dhs85), a Saketini made with Hakutsuru Junmai Ginjo sake, smoked chestnut honey, and Parmesan.

The Banc was founded by brothers Mazlum and Can Topcu and their childhood friend Fabio Teixeira. Together, they bring more than just expertise in business and marketing – they share a deep-rooted passion for authentic hospitality.

“We’ve relocated to the UAE to head up The Banc Dubai, bringing our vision and passion to this vibrant city,” said Mazlum Topcu. “While Fabio remains at our London venue, we made a conscious decision between Mayfair and Dubai for our second location, and we’re excited to have chosen Dubai as the next chapter for The Banc.”

“We’re here every day, greeting guests and providing the warm, community-focused hospitality we’re known for back in London,” added Can Topcu. “Our goal is simple: to establish The Banc as the best restaurant and bar in Business Bay, offering a space where food, art, and music converge in a truly unique and immersive way.”
